The Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the State of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Maryland Historic Trust (MHT) are in the planning process of a Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center. This center will serve as a community resource featuring historical, cultural, and natural resources, and will serve as a gateway between the sanctuary and the public.

Part of this planning process includes a public survey to gather feedback from the community on the location of the center, planned amenities and features, and more. The public survey is available online until Sunday, August 11, 2024.
