Public Hunting Lands

Due to the general small size and active nature of our county-operated parks, hunting and the use/possession of firearms is not permitted at these facilities.

However, tremendous hunting opportunities exist in Charles County and are managed on state properties through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The MD-DNR offers an abundance of public hunting lands throughout the region. These include Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), State Parks, State Forests, Cooperative Wildlife Management Areas (CWMAs), Natural Environment Areas (NEAs) and Natural Resources Management Areas (NRMAs).
